Good choice or marked reputation

C7 LT1 engine name

The new 2014 Corvette Stingray will be powered by a new-gen LT1 small-block.

Many Corvette owners, however, clearly remember the Gen II LT1 small-block, used from 1992-1996, and its nasty reputation as a poor design, thanks largely to the Optispark distributor; although Chevy prefers the public remember the LT1 small-block (1970-1972) as the new-gen LT1s inspiration.

Is the LT1 name permanently tainted by the Gen II small-block, which used this name?

VETTE readers, what do you think?
