"Gulf One" of the first '63 Sting Ray Z06s to be built.

A few years back, Corvette Fever Magazine was merged into VETTE...but the website is still up and running, loaded with features, tech and lots of other stuff that's well worth a look.

That includes a feature on the most famous of the first bunch of race-built C2 Sting Rays, the "Gulf Oil" car.

Come on in for more...

So you're wondering what the Corvette Team's new, C7 Stingray-derived race car will look like (and how it will perform) when it makes its on-track debut?  (That makes more than a few of us!)

RPO L84 --the 360 hp fuel injected 327--powers Gulf One now, as it did way back when.
Tanks for the memories! RPO Z06 (which Gulf One was built with) included a new-for-'63 fiberglass 36-gallon fuel tank.

How about a look back at when the Corvette Team of yesteryear, led by legendary engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov, brought its all-new, Sting Ray-based race cars to the track? It's a piece tha tnot only includes its racing history and plenty of photos, but it also includes a chat with its driver, the legendary Dr. Dick Thompson.

See that--and much more--here:  If that link doesn't work, cut & paste this into your browser:
