The Lake Mirror Classic Auto Festival, now in its twelfth year, combines five great events into one big, fun-filled, automotive event the weekend of October 14-16th. This is one of the “must do” collector car shows in the southeastern United States. On display are more than 600 vehicles that surround the restored 1920’s, art deco-inspired Lake Mirror promenade in downtown Lakeland, Florida. This picturesque setting provides one of the most scenic venues to host an event of this size. The event is known for its beautiful lakefront setting, friendly atmosphere and wide spectrum of vehicles from antiques to racecars. In addition to attracting over 35,000 spectators the event also attracts some of the top car collectors who enjoy participating and supporting this fantastic event.
The weekend kicks-off with the Hot Rod Rendezvous from 6-10PM on Friday evening, Oct. 14th. This opening event is a free outdoor concert and party held at the Lake Mirror Amphitheater. Over 10,000 people are expected to attend this evening car show and enjoy the rock & roll music of Junior and MDs. When the band takes a break, all the hot rods crank up their engines for the Hot Rod Rumble - making some music of their own. The Budweiser Hot Rod Rendezvous benefits Junior Achievement of Polk County by hosting a silent auction on the grounds.
On Saturday, Oct. 15th, hundreds of classic and collectible vehicles including Street Rods & Custom cars will be displayed on the streets of downtown Lakeland. The cars are assembled in groups of similar makes and models in a 14-block area of downtown. Although this part of the event it’s not judged, ribbons and prizes are presented to vehicles selected as sponsor favorites. Participants receive Goody Bags from area merchants and event sponsors along with a custom display sign for the vehicle and lunch for two.
