Illustrations by K. Scott Teeters have graced the pages of VETTE magazine for years.
Now, Scott shows us what he thinks the 60th Anniversary Corvette, due in '13, will look like.
Here are Scott's words on the subject:
"Since I’ve done so many stories about special edition Corvettes lately, I’ve kind of had special editions on the brain. Prior to the big announcement by GM North America President, Mark Reuss, I thought there was a chance that if the C7 was to be a ‘13 model, it would obviously coincide with the 60th anniversary. Since Chevrolet is very much into special editions, including year milestones, a 60th is a no-brainer. So a 60th C7 would have been stunning. But, it was not to be. Actually, it’s probably best that they push out the C7, so that when it arrives, it’s as perfect as can be. I don’t ever remember as much anticipation for a new generation Corvette.
"So, when pondering what a ‘13 60th Anniversary Corvette might look like, I went back to the ‘53 Corvette. You could get any color, so long as it was white. Same with the interior – any color, so long as it’s red. So, red on white was my color pallet. Since there are so many delicious options available for most Corvettes, why not put the juicy stuff on the car? The following items are most obvious: the carbon fiber high-rise hood from the ‘11 Carbon Edition, red and black strips that run over the hood, roof, rear deck, and rear bumper cover, the red front splitter, the side rockers, the Z06/ZR1 rear spoiler, and the beautiful 20-spoke ZR1 wheels with painted white spokes and red center caps. I think the completed concept looks sano, yet sharp. For the complete outline of the concept, visit www.corvettereport.com/we%E2%80%99re-waiting-for-the-2013-60th-anniversary-corvette
"Is this what the 60th Anniversary Corvette will look like? Probably not, but it sure is fun to Corvette daydream!"
