Corvettes For America's Youth Is A Missed Market

Entry Level Corvette Needed For 20-Somethings

Let's face it. The buy-in price of even a base-model Corvette puts it out of the price range of many car hobbyists just out of high-school and college, and many hard-working car hobbists in the their 30s, 40s, and 50s, too.

Though GM wants to keep Corvette a flagship model, its prevented youth from buying Corvettes. Maybe its time for a stripped-down Corvette that retails in the low 30K range. Give it an engine, a stick shift, and its looks, but save encyclopedia of accessories, gizmos, luxury accoutrements, and computer-chip controlled cup holders (just kidding), for the wealthier set.

The youth of America want a Corvette and they can't afford one at $50K. Isn't that what Zora Arkus-Duntov really meant went he wrote “Thoughts Pertaining to Youth, Hot Rodders, and Chevrolet” 57 years ago?
