Mecum Auction continues the momentum from its recent record sale in Monterey at their upcoming St. Charles Auction, where collectors will have a chance to bid on more than 750 vehicles ranging from rare muscle and vintage cars to hot rods and exotics. The auction takes place Oct. 1-4, 2009, at Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles, Ill.
"We are excited to offer a diverse selection of cars at our four-day St. Charles auction, ranging from the 1920s all the way up to current model specialty cars with the main thrust of cars between 1955 and 1975 model years," said President Dana Mecum. "We will feature muscle cars, Corvettes, exotics and even some classic cars like a 1935 Auburn Boattail Supercharged Speedster. With no shortage of classic autos crossing the auction block, both novice and experienced collectors alike will have a chance to add a new favorite to their collections."
The auction schedule includes a 1969 AMC AMX-400 Coupe (Lot S105) custom built by George Barris for the early 1970's TV show "Banacek." This AMX-400 is a modified AMX 390 automatic with a 315 HP V8 engine as well as extensive styling modifications. This one-off original George Barris Kustom will go up for bid Saturday, Oct. 3, at 2:25 p.m.
In addition, Mecum will offer a rare 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda 4-speed (Lot S152) that is one of only 284 produced. This Hemi is even more desirable as it is completely un-restored with a matching numbers drivetrain and only 42,000 miles on the odometer.
Also set to cross the Mecum Auction block is a pair of body-off restored Corvette Sting Rays from the Ron Nordstrom Estate. A 1967 Corvette Convertible 427/435 HP, 4-speed (Lot S106) features the popular Rally Red paint scheme, Tri-Power engine and N14 side exhaust. Its sister car, a 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe 427/435 HP (Lot S107) is identically equipped with a Muncie M21 4-speed and 3.70 Positraction gearset. With zero miles since the cars were restored, both boast a straight from the factory appearance.
Mecum's St. Charles Auction is open to the general public with tickets available at the door for $10. It will be broadcast live on Mecum's television series, "Mecum Auto Auction: Muscle Cars & More" on HD Theater - Discovery Communications' first 24-hour high-definition cable network, offering compelling real-world and motorized content. There is still plenty of time for attendees to pre-register to bid on the impressive lineup of cars and to be part of a live television audience.
