C3 Corvette lovers should have plenty to read about in future issues of Vette magazine, as we just picked up this '71 Stingray project vehicle. Let us know your ideas about how we should build it, and help us come up with a name for our latest project!

When it comes to magazine technical projects, it's sometimes difficult to please all of our readers. If we build a car that's all stock, we will certainly receive correspondence from subscribers stating that we should have modified the car more, and contrarily, building a car that's too exotic will net us responses that our project is "too extreme".

Well we just picked up our latest project, a '71 Stingray, from ebay, and it is an excellent candidate for Vette magazine. Since the original engine is long gone, having been replaced with a late model 350 by the previous owner, we won't worry about ruining its collectability if we perform an engine swap, or say an LS upgrade. Also, it's a four-speed car so an aftermarket five or six-speed manual transmission may find its way between the framrails as well.

Initially, we'll simply ensure the car is mechanically sound and optimize its performance in current form. When it comes to future upgrades though, the sky is the limit. Let us know what you think of our newest addition, and feel free to email us your ideas for this project. We haven't named it yet, so we're taking suggestions for that as well. Follow along as we turn this beater into a Vette any of our readers would be proud to own!
