Two Corvette convertibles a minute. That's how much money GM is losing right now. With this alarming rate of financial bleeding taking place, how much longer will it be before the Corvette is in danger of ceasing to exist?

With the financial Titanic that GM seems to be these days, it's only a matter of time before the accountants start using every means they can to steer the ship away from the iceberg of financial ruin. This means that nothing on the GM books will be save from the blood thirsty and frugal eyes of the bean counters.

That being said, is the Corvette in danger of joining past siblings in the GM retirement community? Low production, high cost, these are two things that don't work in the Corvette's favor. The Vette's excellent fuel economy is a plus in today's fuel crisis, even though the car needs to burn super unleaded.

But how long before someone asks the question, "Do we need this car?"
