Could the next Corvette be a corn-burner?

Rumor has it that Chevy is mulling hybrid power for the upcoming '09 Camaro. Considering that the new Camaro is slated to receive a version of the Corvette's old LS2 powerplant, we have to wonder if a hybrid Vette might not be far behind.

Assuming such a car could be built to match or exceed the performance of the current model, would you buy one? If not, why?

1. I'd buy one only on two conditions:

1) Performance must be on par or exceeds the current performance

AND

2) Little or no additional markup in price for the bybrid powertrain.
