We have it on good authority that the new LS9 super-Vette will be called the ZR1 (or ZR-1).

Should the car instead receive an all-new moniker that better reflects its cutting-edge technology and unprecedented performance?

1. No. The ZR1 name fits perfectly. Use the Corvette's heritage to the car's advantage. When it came out in the late 80s, the ZR1 was the top performing Corvette and American sportscar, this LS9 equipped Vette will be the same thing.

2. while undoubtedly a superior car, this sudden tack by the General for the Robb Report ilk & their overpriced underengineered low caliber bullet dogsleds might price our beloved out of its own marketplace into far narrower confines of snooty cognoscenti the Vette always staunchly opposed;

condemnation of Vettes sometimes deserved, but has anybody else noticed the still poor build quality of non-F1 Ferraris from the 166 Barchetta up to today, how Porsche persist in putting a sledgehammer on four wheels handle first they call a engineering exercise?

going after so small market would mean smaller production numbers--& we all know what exclusivity does to prices;

added to upcoming CAFE requirements, you have to wonder if there a future for a C8, if there is a C8 after say, 2012, will it be whittled down to a Camaro-sized junior achiever?
